Old Vacuum Song
My old vacuum won't pick up the dirt,
Seems like it needs a little bit of work,
So I open it up, and change out the bin,
Pull out the hair and put a new belt in,
And then I see -
It's a bit like me,
Because sometimes God comes and takes me apart,
Pulls out the gunk, and tunes up my heart,
So I can be
What He means me to be,
And I'm glad
He won't give up on me.
My veggie patch is not a pretty sight.
I've got thistles in the beans, and the tomatoes have a blight,
So I roll up my sleeves, and pull out the hoe,
I work plant by plant and row by row,
And then I see -
It's a bit like me,
Because sometimes God comes and pulls out my weeds,
Revives my soul and plants some new seeds,
So I can be
What He means me to be,
And I'm glad
He won't give up on me.
God says, "I've started a good work in you,
And I won't give up until that work is through,
Because the fruits of the Spirit make you shine like new,
So you can rest in my love like I mean you to,
And then you'll see -
You're a bit like me,
Because I've given you my Spirit and I've given you my name,
Washed away your sin, and removed your shame,
So you can be
What I mean you to be,
And I'm glad
You belong to Me."
